‘Garden tourism is huge,’ says Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden Society president Mary Blockberger. ‘There are a lot of people whose idea of a great vacation is to hop in the car and drive from garden to garden to garden to garden.’

  1. Powell Riverites are into gardens a lot. They just had a successful day for their Edible Garden Tour. The Powell River Community Resource Center has a wonderful demonstration garden as well. http://www.prcrc.org/ And of course, we are big into the 50-Mile Eat Local Challenge http://pr50.wordpress.com/ Hope all is well on your section of the Sunshine Coast. - Margy

  2. Powell River so has it going on. I joined a few of their sustainable facebook groups. I am impressed. I really love the idea of edible gardens, and for several years have thought that people should be planting vegetables along the front of their properties for the neighbourhood, so everyone has a selection of fresh produce. Maybe if I say it enough times it might happen one day. LOL Or perhaps I am just crazy, I think they should plant berries and fruit trees in the forest to replace food habitat lost to wildlife from urban sprawl. ha ha
